After traveling to Goa, spending this past weekend on campus made me antsy and bored. I get frustrated with this city because absolutely no part of it is walkable, unless you enjoy getting your feet covered in red dust/sand that is wet with pee. Besides the lack of sidewalks, there is also an issue of distance between any two places. There is no (to my knowledge) central part of the city of Hyderabad, which makes spending a day out and about an expensive (relatively) hassle. Because of this annoying inconvenience, I generally try not to venture off campus everyday. So, what does a person do all day in India when they aren't exploring the land of the unknown? Well, she watches The Office of course. Yes, I must admit that I watch more television shows here in India than I did at Lake Forest.
Something else that I do more of here in India, which was definitely a surprise for me, is eat more. I actually made attempts to gain weight before I left for India, as I had assumed that I'd lose weight while here, but no, here I am gaining more and more weight with every Tiger cracker (delicious Indian cookies/biscuits) I consume. I'm hoping that both unusual increases (tv watching and weight) will go down as I continue to adapt.
My classes are going well, there is still not too much work, but they are more difficult than I had predicted. In my three person Hindi course, we are moving along very quickly, as we've easily covered all of the material I learned in one full year of Spanish.
As far as future traveling goes, I have many unplanned trips floating around in my head that I can hopefully fit in before May 4th when Evan and I head back home.
I better work on my Hindi homework!
namaste mere dost.
(goodbye my friends)
